Little Yellow House online group inventory February 27 th 2022
Charles opened the meeting using the business format. We discussed briefly the upcoming month’s
chair people and the meetings were set. The meeting was then turned it over to Sky. Sky was our moderator for the process. He began by leading us in the 3 rd step prayer, then he read a portion of the Big Book regarding a 4 th step inventory. The A.A. Group pamphlet page 29 will be our template for this process. A link to the pamphlet was put in the chat. Sky also reminded us this is fact finding process and we will not be voting on anything.
Sky read the paragraph on AA group inventory. We then went to question one.
1. What is the basic purpose of our group?
Charles led us off with a brief history of how LYH started online due to the pandemic, as an alternative to physical meetings. As time went on there was a decision made to offer the meeting to the whole AA community online via GSO. He said he saw up as a Traditions based group that was family friendly, sharing from the heart and being mindful and civil to other members. We share the message of recovery.
Other members spoke of the format of our meeting and how it made for a safe place to come and has made a difference in their recovery.
Sky mentioned that he sees us as a Traditions based group, with respect to all who come to the meetings. That there is attraction rather than promotion, he also saw us as a group that respected the 3rd Tradition, and we did not force people to conform to anything except a desire to stop drinking.
Ruby also echoed these thoughts as did Annette and others.
The question of the 4 th tradition came up, is the online group autonomous from the physical
meeting or just an extension of it…we have not come to a conclusion on this point yet. We then
moved on.
2. What more can our group do to carry the message?
Lisa spoke first. She wanted to remind folks that an inventory is not just matters that need to be corrected. They are some things that LYH online is doing well. She mentioned the types of meetings we have available, the solid format for conducting a meeting. Good security for a safe environment and solid leads. She then talked about some of the things we might need to look at. Keeping the lead simple so we have more time for people to share. Avoiding talking too much in between shares.
Some discussion ensued.
Ruby suggested a timekeeper as a “job” to keep the meeting flowing.
We talked about the “Parking lot” meeting after the meeting. That perhaps someone could take the
lead. Nancy suggested breakout rooms for people who just wanted to chit-chat and leaving the main meeting as a place where folks could share.Charles suggested we could do a “popcorn or tag” meeting. Randomly calling on people who have
not shared or did not have their hand up. Claire has attended meetings like this online and found them to be successful, as had other folks.
Claire asked how we could perhaps invite more jails or institutions to attend or perhaps put on a meeting for those folks.
Becca suggested an 11 th step meditation meeting as a way to carry the message. Discussion followed, some members had experience with these types of meetings.
Roy asked if the group found the Speaker meeting effective. Several members assured him it was and wished to continue it.
We did talk about the spirit of rotation and keeping that as part of who we are.
We did set the chair people for the month of March for the following Sunday Roy Monday Sky Tuesday Annette Wednesday Kevin M.
Thursday Ruby Friday Claire Saturday Margaret/Kelly We realized our hour time limit was up and we closed the meeting
